Welcome to Berlin, the capital city of Germany. The first documentation of Berlin appears in the 13th century, and it has a long history of importance—it’s been the capital of the Margraviate of Brandenburg and the Kingdom of Prussia, among others. The lengthy history encompassing the city often manifests in its eclectic collection of architecture, which you should certainly include on your Berlin tour. From the towering classical lines of Charlottenburg Palace, built for the Hohenzollern family in the 17th century, to the sleek mirrored sides of the Bahn Tower, you’re bound to find plenty to look at in the city’s downtown area. Fancy a real German lager? Stop by Prater Garten for a brew—built in 1837, it’s one of the handful of buildings that has survived both World Wars. You can sit ou...

My Berlin travel guide includes 28 secrets, things to do and best places to visit which I carefully selected for this Christmas adventure in Germany. You won't believe number #23 which is a must-see attraction. The first thing you have to remember about Berlin is that it has 2 main city centers in West and East Berlin, primarily the cause of the aftermath of World War 2. I took my family to Berlin - Germany for Christmas to visit its amazing Christmas markets and local events. Berlin is definitely a gem of city but it has its flaws, it could have been the time of the year, Christmas shopping, new year's stress, we basically had a very bad experience with the local service, primarily at restaurants, they seemed to not give a damn about hospitality. Service was overall very sloppy, unpolit...
We spend a full day exploring the city of Berlin. We start off taking a walk through Tiergarten, a huge park in the centre of the city. We make our way to Brandenburg Gate, The Reichstag (Parliament) Building, and Holocaust Memorial (The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe). After that we figure out how to use the U-Bahn (train) to make our way back to the Ellington Hotel, where we’re staying. After that we make our way to East Berlin to check out the East Side Gallery, which is what remains of the Berlin Wall. At the end of our day we head to Markthalle Neun to try some currywurst. Travel video about destination Berlin in Germany. Berlin is Germany's modern capital city, a fascinating European metropolis with a dramatic history in which contemporary architecture merges with the imposing character of a centuries-old city. The Nokolai Quarter was built by the DDR government as a sort of old town, a European Disneyland for the city's 750th anniversary, a popular area with 'new' medieval buildings that display various guilds and stone statues that surround the city's oldest church. We travel to nearby Potsdam, a city of castles and gardens and with an old town that features a lively market atmosphere. When the monarchy settled there, so did their armies and with them came craftsmen, merchants and artists from many countries. The castle-like Nauener Tor leads to the Rus...

Mike Kestemont (University of Antwerp) Francesco Mambrini (German Archaeological Institute) Marco Passarotti (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan) Deep Learning and Computational Authorship Attribution for Ancient Greek Texts. The case of the Attic Orators. Abstract The debate on the authorship of the texts by the Ancient Greek authors is as old as the formation of Greek literary culture itself. Naturally, this debate has always known an important methodological dimension. Although the systematic study of the language and style of the Greek classics has played a pioneering role in philology, attribution research on Greek texts has so far remained relatively isolated from the development of current computational stylometry, apart from a limited number of early studies. The concept of a Piano Session is a full-length concert of about one hour, performed without any pause between pieces. It is conceived as a whole-body performance and it is a musical experience in itself. One hour if uninterrupted solo piano could be weary, but this piece of music moves from acoustic to electronic sounds, blends tuneful themes with electronic beats and spacey ambient sounds. The show expresses a fine-tuned scale of dynamics, from pianissimo and forte, calmness and frenzy all together. The pianist displays fast finger technique, while the mixture of force and sensibility leaves one speechless. It’s hard to pinpoint the musical genre of this Piano Session, as it draws influences from classical music, jazz, electronic music, experimental, ambient. The artist says he’s marc...
